Solid Waste Management/ Transfer Station

The Transfer Station is located at 64 Bay Point Rd.

In the event of inclement weather, call ahead at 207-371-2148.

The Transfer Station is open ONLY on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9:00 to 4:00. 

Entering the Transfer Station when it is not open is considered trespassing. Be advised: surveillance cameras have been installed at the Transfer Station. 

Items NOT accepted at the Transfer Station include: refrigerators, de-humidifiers, air conditioners, tires, fireworks, ammunitions, corrosive, toxic, and flammable materials (fuel, motor oil, oil-based paint, liquid latex paint, paint thinner, pesticides, chemicals of all sorts), medications, and medical equipment, such as syringes. Please do NOT bring these items to the Transfer Station. Ask an attendant for where to take these items or for a brochure that gives options for disposing of these items properly. The next Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be held in early October in Brunswick. 

TRANSFER STATION SCHEDULE:

The Transfer Station (TS) is open on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, and select holiday Mondays.

Hours of operation: 9 am to 4 pm

At the discretion of the TS Manager the TS may be closed due to emergency or weather events. If Georgetown Schools are closed it is likely the TS will also be closed.

Here is the Holiday Transfer Station Schedule for 2025:

  • CLOSED: Wednesday, January 1, 2025 New Year’s Day
  • CLOSED: Monday, January 20, 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • CLOSED: Monday, February 17, 2025 Presidents’ Day
  • OPEN: Monday, May 26, 2025, Memorial Day
  • OPEN: Monday, September 1, 2025, Labor Day
  • OPEN: Monday, October 13, 2025, Indigenous People’s Day
  • CLOSED: Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Christmas Eve
  • OPEN 9-12: Wednesday, December 31, 2025 New Year’s Eve

TRANSFER STATION STICKERS
Transfer Station stickers are required to be displayed in order to drop off trash and recycling materials. Transfer Station stickers are available at the Town Office. Owners of rental properties may request stickers for their tenants. Everyone must obtain and display a sticker as soon as possible.
Please call the Town Office at 371-2820 to arrange to pick up your sticker.

RECYCLING
Remember, recycling saves tax dollars! 
You can recycle newspapers, magazines, catalogs, miscellaneous household paper, cardboard, glass, tin, metals, #2 plastics, batteries (not car batteries), computers and computer accessories, TV’s and fluorescent light bulbs.

All paper (mixed, newspapers, catalogs) except corrugated cardboard goes in one bin now at the transfer station.
